A football club has had plans to site a 15m-high phone mast at its stadium kicked into touch.

Worthing Football Club wanted to site the mast in the north-west corner of its Woodside Road ground, near a floodlight tower.

Planners pointed out that once mounted on a concrete block, the mast would be more than 20m high.

The borough council received two objections from neighbours who said there were already seven masts in the ground and no more should be allowed.

Councillors rejected health fears put forward by protesters but refused the application on the grounds that it would have an adverse impact on the character of the area.
