Sussex drivers will be in action at the South East Motor Sport Enthusiasts' Club meeting at Lydden Hill, Kent today.

Steve Weatherley (St Leonards) will be in action in the BSW Motorsports Intermediate Saloons and Sports Championship.

At the last round, Weatherley became the first disabled driver ever to win a British race outright when he took the flag by just 0.6 seconds in his Ford Sapphire from Nigel Craig's Escort RS2000.

In the Credit Professionals Sports Car Championship, spectators can expect to see a battle between the Caterhams and Westfields of Gary Pickles (Chichester), Doug Newman (Henfield) and Trevor Phillips (Crowborough).

In the easyTrack7 Type Sports Car race which takes place over 30 minutes, you can expect to see the bike-engined Caterham Blackbird and Fireblade of Alan Maynard (Washington) and Graham Booth (Hove) dicing with series sponsor Marcus Thomas' 2-litre Caterham. Practice starts at 12.45pm.

SEMSEC's next meeting on Sunday July 6 will include another full programme of racing.

There was disappointment for Sussex riders in the latest round of the MRO Championship at Cadwell Park last Sunday.

In the Powerbike class, Kenny Everest (Brighton) and Andy Denyer (Uckfield) both failed to finish.

In the Supersport 600 race, Burgess Hill's Ed Biggs came in second to last of the finishers in 12th place, while in the Superport 400 race Cath MacDonald (Portslade) was 13th and Crawley's Juliet Manning 15th, which was last of the finishers.

In the BEMSEE Nationwide races the previous day, Alex Symon (Haywards Heath) was seventh in both the Powerbike races while Everest was 17th and 12th.

Biggs was 13th in the first Supersport 600 race but failed to finish the second.

In the Supersport 400 class, MacDonald was 13th and 16th.

Richard Diamond (Crawley) finished a disappointing 12th in the first Grand Prix 125 outing but improved to take fifth spot in the second race. Another Crawley rider, Danny Sweet, was 28th and 25th in the two Minitwins races.
