Former world boxing champion Chris Eubank could be selling his £2 million home to make way for dozens of flats.

Chris lives in a large detached house in The Upper Drive, Hove, with his wife Karron and their four children - and uses the house next door as a gym.

Birch Restorations has submitted plans to Brighton and Hove City Council to demolish both properties.

Four blocks of 28 private flats and one block of 16 affordable homes for elderly people would be built in their place.

Chris, who is due to appear at London's High Court later this month after being made the subject of a bankruptcy petition by HM Customs and Excise, could be tempted to sell if the price was right.

But the former world middleweight champion, who once offered to buy and restore the West Pier so he could live there, said he has no intention of leaving the city.

His manager Aroon Maharajh said: "All the stories about Chris being bankrupt are just vicious rumours.

"He has been approached by various different property companies but no offer has been accepted and nothing has been done.

"Nothing can be built unless planning permission has been granted "There is no intention, as far as Chris and his family are concerned, to leave the city."

He added, however, Eubank might find the right price too hard to resist.

He said: "It is a valuable piece of land and anyone would be a fool not to consider offers."

Builder John Regan, of Birch Restorations, said he had been in discussion with the council about the plan.

The application had been put in to see whether planning permission was likely and Mr Regan added: "We will wait and see."

The plans, which include a new access road from nearby Caisters Close, are being considered by city planners.

Eubank has been involved in other property dealings in the city, including creating homes for those in need at Buckingham Place, Brighton.
