Exporters in the South-East are becoming increasingly disillusioned with the Government, according to research by Bibby Factors Sussex.
A study by the factoring specialists showed 71 per cent believe the Government does not understand their needs - a three-fold increase on this time last year.
The majority of firms were also disappointed with the service they receive from Customs & Excise.
Forty-seven per cent said it provided a helpful service up to half of the time while 37 per cent said it provided an adequate service three-quarters of the time.
When asked about the Export Credit Guarantee Department, recently criticised by the CBI for failing to provide export support that matches what is available in other countries, almost three in ten of the regions businesses complained that it had become increasingly bureaucratic in the past 12 months.
