Drivers in Worthing faced traffic chaos this morning after a lorry crashed through a level crossing barrier.
The accident happened at 9.30am at the South Farm Road crossing near Worthing station.
A lorry and a car were crossing when the alarm sounded and the barriers began to go down.
The lorry hit one of the barriers as it got to the north side of the crossing but did not get stuck on the line.
Engineers from Network Rail were alerted and were soon at the scene to assess the damage.
Rail company South Central was warned and trains were slowed as they passed the crossing.
Pedestrians were allowed to use the crossing under supervision.
