From the moment Judith Durham walked on stage I got the impression she genuinely cherished her audience as much as they obviously adored her.
Opening to rousing applause, the Australian diva said she felt she was in a room full of friends - an appropriate cue for the Carole King number You've Got A Friend.
From there, she belted through a diverse repertoire, covering traditional jazz, a tribute to Fifties' crooners, gospel and a selection of her own poignant compositions.
Of course, she's best remembered as the lead vocalist with Sixties band the Seekers and paid homage to that era with an array of favourites, such as Georgy Girl, The Carnival Is Over and I'll Never Find Another You.
About the only song she didn't sing was Happy Birthday, which wouldn't have been out of place as she'd turned 60 two days before, hence this Diamond Tour.
There can't be many people of that age with a voice as clear and resonant as hers ... or, indeed, any age.
The carnival is obviously far from over for Ms Durham and long may it continue.
