I always believed that being on the council, you were elected to serve the people.
As a former South Portslade councillor, it was interesting to read the allowances listed in The Argus (July 9).
Some councillors seem more interested in claiming money than dealing with day-to-day problems.
An example of this is the cardboard recycling bank - or should I say mountain? - in Victoria Road, Portslade. I had to explain to a curious tourist visiting the area this is not a piece of modern art.
