A woman was rushed to intensive care after falling 30ft out of a window.

She had spent the afternoon drinking with friends before plunging from the second-floor flat in Lansdowne Street, Hove.

They were out of the room and her boyfriend had turned away when the accident happened on Saturday at 9.30pm.

The 25-year-old student, who lives in London, landed in front of the basement flat.

An ambulance took her to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with suspected head injuries.

After being examined, she was found to have fractured her forearm and a black eye.

Despite this, she was put into intensive care overnight and kept there until 12.30pm yesterday as a precaution.

She was due to have an operation on her arm today and was expected to be out of hospital by Wednesday.

Her terrified boyfriend, who did not want to be named, said: "I thought she would have been worse.

"She could not remember where she was or what she had done before.

"That height even scares me looking at it.

"The fact she had had so much to drink probably saved her because she was relaxed."
