I reply to Denis Christian's letter (July 11) about the possible ice skating rink at Black Rock in Brighton.
With all the recent anti-social behaviour reported from the Whitehawk estate, wouldn't it be better for the youngsters to be able to go down to Black Rock, burn up their energy and cool off on the ice rink?
We must give these youngsters the opportunity for some achievement.
I have campaigned for more than 30 years to have a ski slope built in Brighton and Hove but there were objections to every project put forward.
So I built my own to teach the youngsters.
Now the killjoys are out again, objecting to a large ice rink in Brighton.
Southampton is building one and has had a ski slope for years.
Come on, let us think of the youngsters who have to travel to Bracknell/Guildford/London ice rinks. How many can afford to do that each week?
A full-size Olympic ice rink would put Brighton back on the map, just like the Brighton Tigers did.
