Eye-catching banners warning parents to park properly outside schools are being hung around Worthing.
The banners are part of the Safer Routes to School scheme launched by the Road Safety Team at Centenary House, Durrington.
The team has arranged for the banners, which explain the dangers of parking on zig-zag lines, to become a regular feature on school fences throughout the town.
Honor Byford, of the Road Safety Team, said: "We want to encourage more children to walk to school in order to reduce the congestion and pollution caused by the school run.
"But this can only be achieved if parents and children feel safe when crossing the road outside school.
"If cars park on the zig-zag lines, they obviously cause a hazard."
The campaign was prompted by complaints from schools about irresponsible motorists.
