I must respond to your recent article "It's muddle and strife at the Rebels" (The Argus, July 9).
As a current major shareholder and former director of the club, I am appalled at the way the manager Barry Lloyd has been treated and fully support, and agree, with the comments made by Carl Stabler.
It appears that over the years Worthing FC has somehow managed to drag itself down to the depths of local football despite having the potential to become one of the largest clubs in Sussex.
Only that great stalwart of the club Morty Hollis comes out of this with any real credibility.
Many think he holds the club back but quite the reverse is true.
He has a wealth of positive and constructive ideas which would help the club to move forward.
Thank God that he had the foresight to keep the ground and the club separate, otherwise Worthing could have experienced the same debacle as Albion, with the ground being sold off.
As for Alan Pook, I do not know the guy, but would like to comment that, having failed to gain Ryman league membership with Withdean, it appears he quickly turned his attention to Worthing.
Has he the same passion for the club that Sammy Donnelly and Barry Lloyd undoubtedly have? I suspect not and fear for the future of the club, especially now that non-league football is under massive reorganisation.
However, I do wish the club and its many great supporters well for the future.
-Chris G Tinker, Worthing
