A terrified driver jumped a red light to escape three road rage attackers who pointed a pistol at him.
The 38-year-old victim sped away when the front-seat passenger in a Ford Escort RS2000 wound down the window and aimed the firearm.
Police say the man, in a Vauxhall Astra, had been cut up by the souped-up Escort on the approach to traffic lights near the Bear pub in Lewes Road, Brighton.
The three men in the Escort were in their 20s. The man with the gun was white with blonde cropped hair.
PC Ben Wallis investigating said: "It is a serious offence to possess a firearm or an imitation gun with the intent to cause fear of violence. "
