From where was the Noble Organisation expecting to find the thousands of pounds for its campaign against the West Pier's restoration (The Argus, July 12)?
Is this the money that is received from hundreds of thousands of visitors (myself included) who happily visit "Brighton" Pier every year?
If so, it should be spent on running the pier and general maintenance rather than on this ludicrous and destructive campaign.
So what if the West Pier is restored? As you point out, it is likely to offer attractions considerably different from the vulgar but fun fish and chips, slot machines, booze and karaoke currently available on the so-called "Brighton" Pier.
A major resort like ours can easily accommodate two thriving piers.
Let's put the spotlight back on Brighton Pier. When is it going to restore the theatre that was demolished in the mid-Eighties?
Without committing themselves to doing this, the Noble Organisation's bleatings about a restored West Pier have zero credibility.
