A pensioner has died a week after an accident while crossing the road.
Daphne Ashdown, 78, was walking across Bannister Way outside Sainsbury's in Haywards Heath at 11.45am on July 1 when she was in an accident involving a white BMW 316 driven by a 77-year-old local man.
Mrs Ashdown, of Penland Road, Haywards Heath, suffered serious head and internal injuries. She was taken to the town's Princess Royal Hospital for treatment and transferred to Whitechapel.
On July 8 Mrs Ashdown died in hospital.
Police have just released the information.
Sergeant Jon Brydon, of Haywards Heath road policing unit, said: "No independent witnesses have come forward. At the moment we only have a statement from the driver. Someone must have seen the incident as it was outside a busy supermarket."
Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers free 0800 555111.
