Am I the only person who finds the jobsworth at the King Alfred car park exasperating?
For longer than I care to remember, on a fine summer's day, many people have wanted to visit the beach and have parked in the King Alfred car park wherever they can find room.
A few weeks ago, I had just returned to my car in time to prevent a traffic warden from booking me. I had paid the correct fee but was parked outside a marked bay.
After complaining to the manager, she assured me I should not have been booked.
The lines in the car park were very faint at the time.
Obviously, to keep traffic wardens fully occupied, the bays have since been repainted and now they are going round happily issuing tickets to anybody not parked in the correct bays, even if they have paid the correct fee.
Surely this is quite unnecessary? The cars are off the road, the council is receiving maximum revenue from the parking fees and scarce space in the area is being used to the full.
Incidentally, where are all these poor motorists going to park when the proposed 400 flats are built on this site?
