One in five university students puts in a gruelling working week of up to 50 hours on top of their studies, according to a new report.

Research among 358 students at the University of Hertfordshire showed that more than half worked for up to 20 hours a week on top of their education.

Money was the main reason for mixing work with study but many also said they wanted to earn cash rather than rely on handouts from parents.
