Sixteen of the top Sussex players will be invited to compete in a new Sussex Super League in September.

Total prize money will be £1,000, provided by Brighton firm Ocean International Communications Ltd.

Eight sessions will be held at the Hollingbury club at the Bevendean School, Brighton, with teams of two playing each other.

Meanwhile, the Brighton League are without a secretary after Barry Ward's decision to retire after eight years service. No one offered to replace him at the AGM Peter Burdock, who has coached and adminstered in Brighton for 50 years, has also retired Peter Croxford remains in the Brighton chair, John Clarke is the new match secretary and Bulgarian Plamen Koutzarov has been appointed coach to the league.

Awards for long service and development were made to Carol and Alan Beames of Patcham.
