Albion trialist Gaetano Giallanza is hoping he has done enough to extend his stay at the club.
The Swiss-Italian striker played for an hour in last night's pre-season 2-0 win at Woking.
It was his first senior match for two years after snapping cruciate ligaments in his knee.
The 28-year-old, who was once rated at £2 million during his time at French side Nantes, was released by Norwich City last summer after scoring five goals in 18 appearances in a two-year spell at Carrow Road.
Giallanza is now looking to re-build his career at Albion.
He said: "It's always difficult in your first game for a new club but I worked hard and I am happy with how it went.
"My fitness was alright. This is the first game I have played after a long injury but there was no problem regarding that.
"I had a few chances but they didn't go for me but overall I think it was alright.
"It is also good to have won the game which I always think is important in pre-season."
Manager Steve Coppell has not set a deadline on Giallanza's stay at the club and the player is desperate for another chance to impress when Albion go to Barnet on Saturday.
He added: "I always want to give 110 per cent in every game I play so I was happy with the work I did.
"It is always difficult on trial to say much about it so I will just do my best and hope the manager thinks good things about me.
"I don't how long I am here for, I just hope it is for a bit longer because I've just started."
Midfielder John Piercy is meeting doctors today regarding a mystery stomach bug which has seen him lose half a stone in weight.
The former Spurs man came on as a second half substitute last night but admits he is finding it difficult to play.
He said: "It's not good at the moment. I am still training and playing but I'm nowhere near what I should be.
"I'm finding it hard to get up for games and I am lacking energy.
"Hopefully it won't be serious but whatever it is I've got to get it sorted soon because I can't carry on how I am at the moment."
Chris McPhee scored his fifth goal of pre-season last night.
