Sixty cars have been clamped and nine towed away in a police crackdown on untaxed vehicles.
Police have been on the streets of Horsham for the last five days as Operation Vanquish swept through the town.
In the operation, led by Sergeant Paul Ransome, cars with out-of-date tax discs were clamped, with a £200 release fee - £120 of which will be reimbursed when the owner buys a new tax disc.
Owners who fail to pay up within 24 hours had their cars towed away with the fine rising by £15 a night for storage costs.
Today is the last day of the operation in the town.
Sgt Ransome said: "It has been a success. Horsham residents are pleased to see the tat being removed from the streets.
"As owners get £120 back on buying a tax disc it's an incentive to get up to date.
"We've heard there are queues outside many of the town's post offices which may mean people are going out to buy tax discs.
"Removing abandoned cars means cutting down on the potential for arson attacks and vandalism.
Operation Vanquish is being repeated in other parts of Sussex.
