Modernising the area around the King Alfred centre would probably be approved by most.
However, the proposed building would be an eyesore and out to of place in the established Regency style of the surrounding area.
The idea that business would be attracted to an area which is supposedly forward-thinking is spurious.
Business was and is conducted in the area whether or not there is to be some sort of avant-garde perception.
The decision to build such a monstrosity is tied to finance in spite of the fact the possible maintenance costs could be extraordinarily high in the future.
