Jobs could be created when a neglected trading estate is given a new lease of life.
Moves to attract new businesses to Northbrook Trading Estate have been approved by town planners under ambitious plans to give the vacant area a facelift.
It will be redeveloped, creating 18 business units with parking.
Worthing Borough Council backed plans for developers Rokeagle to revamp the vacant estate in Broadwater.
The former British Telecom site had been empty for several years and planners felt it was important to get it operating and creating jobs again.
Each business unit will have an office and a ground floor space with toilets and a shutter door.
The site will be entered from a new mini roundabout in Northbrook Road.
Some councillors said at a planning meeting there were not enough parking spaces and the redevelopment would congest surrounding roads.
Referring to the Highways Agency's approval of the plans, Councillor Eric Mardell said the development plans "will make life difficult for residents for years to come."
