There was much campaigning when it was proposed to close down the Knoll House Day Centre and short stay centre for the elderly in Ingram Crescent, Hove.
The centre had only been established for just over 20 years but, because of new regulations, had to close for renovation.
Then it was decided to alter the use of the building to become a short stay centre for elderly people who were blocking hospital beds.
Sadly, this meant disbanding the day centre and sending all the day clients to other outlying centres.
The majority of residents on the Ingram Crescent estate are horrified at the demolition of the whole interior of this fairly new building.
Considering the financial state of the social services and the NHS, would it not have been more beneficial to have kept Knoll House as the thriving day centre that it was and to have built a purpose-built building for the NHS to prevent bed blocking?
