Every week we seem to see an article or letter about the nuisance of seagulls in our city. Is Brighton and Hove City Council taking note?
I couldn't agree more with George Marshall (Letters, August 14) when he called for controlling the number of gulls in Brighton.
We live in a city too akin to the town in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. There are plainly too many gulls nesting in Brighton's residential areas.
A feature in The Observer last Sunday mentioned a "tenfold increase of seagulls in urban areas over the last ten years" and said "councils throughout the UK are drawing up plans to tackle the menace".
I would invite Brighton and Hove City Council to tell The Argus their plans to tackle the problem of the increased gull population in Brighton.
Lack of action now means that next year we face another horrendous summer of increased noise pollution from early morning screeching and the health hazards caused by the gulls' excrement and rubbish scattering.
