A major arts festival is about to kick off in East Sussex.
Artwave 2003, the biggest visual arts festival to take place across Lewes District, starts on Saturday and runs until September 21.
More than 240 artists will be exhibiting their work at 85 venues spread across the district and beyond.
Art lovers could find themselves following the Artwave trail from Newick to Newhaven and from Ditchling to Glynde as well as taking in exhibitions as far afield as Halland, Herstmonceux and Jevington.
Artwave has grown since it started in 1994 and is now one of the area's annual arts highlights.
It shows people the skills and talents that are on their doorstep and also provides a shop window for work.
The Artwave banner promotes local art and creativity by encouraging experts and novices alike to open their homes and studios.
Studios and galleries across the district are marking Saturday's opening by holding special events with drinks, refreshments and sessions to meet the artist.
Artwave pocket guides with information about venues, artists and exhibits are free.
Details will soon be going online at www.lewes.gov.uk
