I was surprised to read the points made by Dave Clark of Amnesty International (Letters, August 19).
Egypt is a Muslim country and therefore lives by a very strict regime. I have homes in Egypt and England and have a happy gay relationship in both countries.
There is no homosexual community in Egypt due to their beliefs so I cannot understand Mr Clark's idea that we must support the persecution of gay men in Egypt.
They get persecuted by Europeans, while they are on holiday, who force them to have a different experience.
All Egyptian men are thinking of is money as they need to support their families.
In Egypt it is quite common for men to walk hand in hand and to kiss on the streets. All Mr Moubarak asks is not to have indecent goings-on in public places.
