As a designer, the artist's impression of the proposed development for the King Alfred site in Hove reminded me of the aftermath of 9/11.
Architecture is subjective.
However, to build something so controversial in a quiet residential area is totally out of order.
If this design was for Disneyland, it might have some credibility but in Hove its vast awkward stature would be vastly at odds with the surrounding buildings.
The council has an opportunity to create something superb which the community could enjoy for a generation.
Instead it has sanctioned a monstrous blot on the landscape.
It is an insult.
