East Sussex League: Chiddingly skipper Tom Carr is hoping experience can prevail over youth as the race for the title reaches an exciting climax.

The championship battle took another twist on Saturday as the top three sides all lost.

Just seven points now separate leaders Glynde and second-placed Chiddingly, while defending champions Fletching are out of the frame after losing at home to Newick.

Carr is hoping his experienced side can emerge triumphant over Glynde's exciting crop of youngsters. He said: "We are just going to try to win our last two games.

"Glynde are the better team, no doubt about that, but they are young. If they get carried away then anything can happen.

"Our problem is we can never get the same side out two weeks in a row. We are older with families and people can't play every week.

"Had we had the same team out every week we probably would have have a couple more wins, which would have made all the difference."

The good news for Chiddingly is that Carr has a full strength side out for the remaining games away to Newick and at home to Seaford.

Glynde, meanwhile, finish at home to Crowhurst Park and then away to Herstmonceux.

Crowhurst Park scored an impressive win at home to Chiddingly on Saturday. A splendid fourth- wicket partnership of 123 in just 12 overs between Paul Lindfield (90) and Michael Legg (46) was the highlight of their innings, Lindfield hitting eight sixes.

Martin Barry chipped in with 51 as Park posted 270 all out, although they lost their last five wickets for 17 runs with Martin Hole claiming 5-51.

At 103-5 in reply, things looked bleak for Chiddingly but Gavin Sutherland (52) and John Puttick (49) turned the game back their way. However, man-of-the-match Legg returned to finish with 5-51 as the visitors were dismissed for 244.

Glynde lost for the first time this season at home to Heathfield Park. The visitors made 259-3 thanks to contributions from Ian Cox (75), Christian Hart (69 not out) and Mick March (47). Richard Harding hit 70 in reply and Dominic Shepheard 60 but Glynde were dismissed for 211 with Tim Russell (5-36) and Simon Briggs (3-59) doing the damage.
