The weather this summer is one of the best on record when everyone can make the most of the beaches and our countryside.
So why do even the most secluded of beaches have to be polluted with rubbish, littered with cans, bottles and plastic?
Recently outside the petrol station in Preston Village I watched a chap delicately pull the wrapper off an item he had just bought, open the window of the car and throw it out.
At a car boot sale the family in front of us threw their food containers out on to the grass and were most upset when I asked them to pick them up and put them in the bins provided.
Other counties do not have this culture and put us to shame. Why are the British so lazy, stupid and short sighted?
