I must concur with J Adams (Letters, August 15) about young people being placed in accommodation above that occupied by the elderly.

Housing is in short supply but this should be avoided, especially where children are involved. Many parents are responsible and considerate.

But others are not.

I feel sorry for the children whose natural exuberance has to be curtailed and for the elderly living beneath them.

Children have to play. The elderly need peace and quiet.
