Albion have drafted in teenager Ross Flitney from Premiership relegation favourites Fulham as goalkeeping cover for Ben Roberts.

The 19-year-old is joining the Seagulls on a month's loan following Michel Kuipers' move to Hull on an identical basis.

Hitchin-born Flitney, formerly with Arsenal, will be on the bench at Plymouth tomorrow.

He is fourth in line at Fulham behind Edwin Van Der Sar, Mark Crossley and goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant, who played for Albion last season.

The Seagulls have instant recall on Dutchman Kuipers, whose temporary transfer to Hull to be reunited with former Albion chief Peter Taylor was revealed in yesterday's Evening edition of The Argus.

Coppell has been aware of the possibility of losing Kuipers since Taylor returned to Withdean earlier this month as a televison summariser for the match against QPR.

"In an ideal world we would have kept Michel, but he is frustrated at losing out to Ben and this will keep him up to speed," he said. "Reserve team football doesn't do that."

Centre forward Darius Henderson makes the final appearance of his month on loan from Reading tomorrow.

Albion are still hopeful of keeping Henderson for a second month, although that depends on the sale of any strikers by Reading after they agreed a fee with Rotherham for Martin Butler.

Coppell admitted: "It's not a good situation to be in. I would love to formalise a signing up front, somebody just to supplement what we've got. I think that's important for us, because goals get you out of this division."

Tomorrow's starting line-up will be influenced by injuries and suspension.

Captain Danny Cullip (hamstring), Simon Rodger (groin) and Paul Watson (foot) are all still under treatment and Nathan Jones begins a three-match ban.

Coppell indicated yesterday that Cullip has the best chance of being fit out of the injured trio.
