A West Sussex woman has won an award after her actions led to a robber's arrest.
Lucy Harris, from Horsham, was rewarded with Divisional Congratulations at Sussex Police's North Downs Divisional Awards Ceremony.
She called 999 when she saw an elderly woman being followed by a suspicious-looking man near her home in April.
Although the woman was then attacked and her bag stolen, the man was arrested 18 minutes later thanks to the description given by Ms Harris.
A police spokesman said Ms Harris was an example to others.
He said: "All too often in today's society, the public chooses to ignore what is occurring around them. Lucy provided vital information which led directly to the apprehension of the offender."
PC Richard Colley and PC Timothy Dean, both of Haywards Heath police station, were honoured with Divisional Congratulations and the Royal Humane Society Award.
The officers saved the life of a suicidal man in December last year.
The man had taken a lethal combination of sedatives and alcohol, then sat in his car with the exhaust connected to the inside.
The officers located and resuscitated him.
