Record-breaking temperatures have helped Brighton and Hove attract its biggest summer crowds.
Hundreds of thousands of people have flocked to the resort since the start of August, says tourist agency VisitBritain.
Spokesman Elliot Frisby said: "This summer has offered the perfect opportunity to showcase those things which make England such a great destination.
"Seaside resorts and countryside attractions have undoubtedly benefited from the hot weather but we have also heard that city breaks have proved very popular as well.
"There is no doubt the continuing fine weather has encouraged more people to take a break in their own country."
It was estimated the record-breaking weekend in August, when the thermometer passed the 100F mark for the first time in Britain, led to as many as 200,000 people flocking to Brighton, while Blackpool welcomed about 80,000.
