Crawley Down moved up to fourth in the table after a 2-0 defeat of second placed Mile Oak.
Paul Otway headed the opener from a corner and Jason Allen doubled the lead before half time following good work from Matt Baker and Richard Bolingbroke.
Down lost John Crumplin and top scorer Darren Tidey through injury at half time but they held on in the second half.
Manager Darren Barker said: "We did enough in our first half performance to get the three points."
Tom Pickford scored the only goal of the game on 55 minutes as Steyning Town won 1-0 away to Oakwood.
An eventful match saw Steyning's Paul McMichael have a penalty saved by Neil Burling with the game goalless while Ben Garman was sent off for the visitors with half an hour remaining.
Goals from Ian Costello and Ryan Ford earned Lancing a 2-1 success against Seaford which was their first win under Alf Ford. Danny Rapps was outstanding in goal on his Lancing debut while Lee Plaistow hit a late consolation for the visitors.
Littlehampton wasted a string of chances as they drew 0-0 away to Saltdean. Clinton More and Danny Stevens were the biggest culprits with glaring misses.
Marigolds boss Carl Stabler said: "We are just not taking our chances. We have five points from 12 and we should have ten points from 12."
Worthing United drew 0-0 with Westfield while Wealden's match with Broadbridge Heath was postponed.
