I was greatly saddened to learn of David Gray's death (The Argus, Sept 4).
He was a great inspiration to my sisters and I, who all played in the Brighton Youth Orchestra in the Seventies.
He also encouraged me to go on to take up music full time.
While I now work in marketing and PR, I am still playing the violin in the Sussex Symphony Orchestra and often remember his comments and enthusiasm when playing certain symphonies.
A lovely man who has inspired so many people, he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
