Who could be petty enough to begrudge the binmen a bonus for agreeing to give up their Saturday to catch up on the bank holiday collections? (The Argus, Aug 28).
Personally, I am very grateful to people such as refuse collectors and the men who recently dealt with my blocked drain for being there to deal with such unpleasant jobs for me.
I would far rather see my extortionate council tax spent on this than on the monstrosity proposed for the King Alfred site.
That will be around to offend the residents of Hove long after the current bin bag mountain has disappeared.
-(Mrs) AM Baldwin, Portslade
