Withdean moved off the bottom of the table after a six-pointer weekend.
A late goal from Gavin Jones earned Withdean their first win of the season, a 1-0 success at Hartley Wintney.
Their points tally was immediately doubled as news came through that Westfield had played an ineligible player against them in the opening game of the season.
Florian Mateos struck a post for Withdean in the first half.
It was the Frenchman who set up the 80th minute winner for substitute Jones.
Joint-boss Bob Hitchcock said: "Everyone played really well.
"I said it would take eight or ten games to come together and we are showing signs of improvement."
