A passenger was showered with glass when vandals threw something through the window of a moving train in West Sussex.
The South Central service had left Southampton for London Victoria at 8.22pm on Friday and was near Fishbourne.
The man was covered in glass and left shocked, but unhurt.
The train pulled into Chichester and police were called.
Staff temporarily repaired the damaged window so the service could continue its journey into Worthing, where it was delayed for another ten minutes while further repairs were carried out.
A spokesman for South Central said: "The incident was reported to police, who are investigating. Luckily the passenger was not seriously injured."
