Dutch elm disease has flared up in Worthing again.
Staff employed by the borough council's parks department are planning to fell infected trees.
Earlier this year, they cut down numerous immature trees at The Gallops in Findon Valley.
Many had sprung up from roots left when older trees were removed about 20 years ago.
Town parks manager Chris Bradley said: "It has never really gone away. There are always trees growing up from old roots belonging to trees felled years ago.
"They never become big mature trees. They just succumb to the disease.
"The very hot dry summer we have had makes conditions ideal for the beetle to spread."
