A replica Elizabethan galleon ran into difficulty in strong winds off the Sussex coast.
The re-creation of Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind was on its way to the Southampton Boat Show yesterday when it had to heave-to near Eastbourne Pier.
Force four head winds had slowed the ship's progress to a crawl and the crew had to call for assistance from a tug.
Like its late-16th-century predecessor, the current Golden Hind, built in 1973, has circumnavigated the globe, clocking up more than 140,000 miles.
It can usually be found moored on the Thames in the heart of London.
Southampton Boat Show opens tomorrow and runs until September 21.
