Temporary boss Ryan Sallows has insisted that Pease Pottage will not fold despite an 18-0 humiliation at Westfield in Matthew Clark County League div two.
General manager Sallows, who was left in charge following the resignation of Dudley Christensen last week, says the troubled club will fulfil their fixtures and believes better times are around the corner.
Talks have been taking place with a potential new manager who could turn the club around, according to Sallows.
He said: "There are lots of things to sort out and we started that last week with the departure of Dudley.
"We will have a team for Saltdean tonight. We are not going to quit. The club has worked very hard to get to where it has and we will honour our commitment to the league.
"We are working hard to sort out a manager for the first team and we shall go on from there."
Sallows fielded just one first team regular, Scott Christensen, at Westfield after nine players dropped out from the side beaten by Wealden the previous week.
Instead, the team was made up of youth team players and they were not helped by being reduced to nine men before half-time with Michael Taylor being sent off and Dave Webb going off injured.
Sallows says he will have a stronger team at Saltdean, with some of the missing nine returning and members of their unbeaten reserve side stepping up.
The goals for Westfield were shared between Lawrence Brand (4), Duncan Jones (4), Dominic Clarke (4), Alan Johnson (3), Justin Jirbandy (2) and Russell Keen.
Westfield remain second in the table behind Midhurst and Easebourne, who twice came from behind to beat Eastbourne United 3-2.
Scott McDonald gave United the lead after just 23 seconds but Chris May levelled before half-time. A Darren Hodgson own goal restored the visitors' advantage on 59 minutes but Derek Curwood levelled and Lewis Hamilton grabbed a winner ten minutes from time.
Victory was secured without leading scorers Jason Broom and Chris Heighes, who were both unavailable.
Worthing United are up to third in the table after a comfortable 4-1 win at home to Seaford.
New signing Peter Brackley, playing for his third club of the season, scored twice before going off injured with a thigh strain. Steve Pickles and Stuart Anderson also found the net with Adam Hammond replying.
Both sides were reduced to ten-men with Ashton sent off for Worthing and Simon Young dismissed for Seaford.
Worthing manager Ian Browne said: "It has been going well. Each time we have played we have dominated possession and created enough chances to win three games.
"The players are working hard and working well as a unit."
Wick produced a tremendous comeback to earn a 4-4 draw at Crawley Down.
The hosts were leading 4-1 with 15 minutes to go but a dramatic finish saw three goals, three penalties and two red cards.
Although Hassan Yassan had hit a first half equaliser, Down were in control thanks to two goals from new signing Jamie Baldwin, a Tony Miles own goal and Jason Allen's fourth goal of the campaign.
Lee Webber pulled one back for Wick on 75 minutes and they were then awarded a penalty after Matt Baker handled on the line, resulting in the first red card. Glen Souter scored that one but saw a second saved by Matt Heasman.
However, after another handball by Matt Lake, who was also dismissed, a third spot kick was awarded and Webber converted on the stroke of full time to make it 4-4 Wick boss Andy Gander said: "At 4-1, I was wondering how many they would score but we came back well and when we got it back to 4-3 I thought we would get something out of it."
Crawley Down joint-manager Darren Barker said: "It was dramatic but they should have been dead and buried."
Wealden came from behind to beat Littlehampton 2-1. Ryan Gaylor gave the Marigolds a first minute later but Wealden hit back through Tom Holden and Warren Levy inside 22 minutes.
Keith Mtambara missed a golden chance to score a third but Wealden had to defend under heavy pressure for the last 20 minutes when Adam Parker, the chairman's son, stood out at sweeper on his first full appearance.
Frederick Boateng gave Haywards Heath the lead at Broadbridge Heath but the hosts hit back to claim a 3-1 victory thanks to goals from Paul Stevens, Russell Harwood and Dan Attwater.
