On behalf of the Royal Air Forces Association, I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped to organise the recent RAFA Shoreham Charity Airshow.
It was very successful again and will provide funds for a needy charity and help to carry on the wonderful welfare work for ex-RAF personnel.
The Airshow was attended by thousands and our thanks go to them.
It is often felt that because we are working for an RAF back-up charity, we would get preferential treatment from the Royal Air Force.
This is not the case. We pay exactly the same fees for the air displays as any other airshow.
This year we were particularly let down by the RAF because of the non-arrival of the Falcon Parachute team and the static C130 Hercules.
The BBMF Lancaster was also unserviceable.
The airshow committee is determined to carry on giving the public good value-formoney family events.
I would also like to thank our sponsors, The Argus, for promoting the event and for the sale of advance tickets.
Thank you, volunteers and customers alike.
-Don Bean MBE, The Royal Air Forces Association fundraising department
