Mid Sussex residents campaigning against plans to build a landfill site on their doorstep have had a meeting with their MP.
Members of the Freshfield Action Group (FAG ) travelled to London to see Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames.
West Sussex County Council is proposing to use the Freshfield Lane Brickworks site, near Horsted Keynes, for waste disposal.
More than 1,408 objections were lodged when it appeared among a list of possible landfill sites in the council's 2001 Waste Plan.
This week Mr Soames called a meeting to review FAG's strategy as the county council deliberates the responses to its consultation exercise.
FAG member Barley McGrath said: "We hope the strength of local opinion will persuade them to drop it."
