I hope Roger Kirby, who has paid £2,000 for John Prescott's old jag so that he can burn it in protest on bonfire night (The Argus, September 18), stops to consider just how stupid he is being.

Does he really think that Mr Prescott or anyone in government gives a damn about what he or any of the electorate thinks?

Mr Kirby quite rightly complains about the amount of our money being squandered by this incompetent Government.

Yet he is about to publicly burn £2,000. I could give him the name of a Ugandan priest who could feed his orphanage for an entire year on that.

If he really wants to make a significant protest he should use the money to stand as an Independent MP and give the rest of the electorate opportunity to vote for him.

That way the rest of us could really show the Government and MPs of both parties what we think of their incompetence.
