Hastings produced the shock result of the weekend in British League division three when they defeated Horsham B 7-1 at Ashford in Middlesex.
Paul Barry, Rose Rainton and Stuart Hobden were all unbeaten against Horsham.
Hastings went downhill after the surprise victory, losing their remaining three matches 5-3.
Horsham, after losing to Hastings, strengthened their side and beat ROK 7-1 and Guernsey 5-3.
The Horsham third team came up with three wins, losing only to Guildford. Gary Wilson (Worthing) won six of his eight matches.
Making their league debut at Barnet, Brighton University won three matches but lost 5-3 to Dulwich. Former Sussex champion John Clarke won seven of his eight matches with excellent support from Rory Scott and Jack Boult.
In the crucial match against Dulwich, Scott was 2-0 and 8-4 up against Everton Waite in the decider but lost 12-10.
Entries for the new Sussex Super League, due to start in October at Bevendean School on Thursdays, are being taken. The prize kitty is £1,000. Details from Carol Beames on 01273 267695.
