Ryman: Lewes have added to their trail-blazing outfit by snapping up Anthony Charles on a three-month loan from Conference side Aldershot.
Defender Charles, 22, goes into the squad for tomorrow's Ryman division one south top of the table clash with Windsor and Eton.
The Rooks have beaten off competition from Sutton, Kingstonian and Farnborough to snap up the left-sided former Crewe Alexandra man.
Lewes manager Steven King said: "Anthony is a top player. He played for Crewe the season before last under Dario Gradi. Last year he went to Aldershot and helped them win the championship.
"He can play the left side of central defence or leftback. We have been desperate for someone like him because we have no-one on the left."
Charles will spend three months with Lewes but King believes Aldershot will want him back after that.
Meanwhile, King has laughed off suggestions of a London/Sussex split in his squad.
He said: "There have been people saying the spirit isn't right but the spirit couldn't be better. When you bring new people in and you have different personalities it takes time but the spirit is superb and the bond is getting stronger."
