Hove Town Hall is an unlikely location to find 400 headbangers.
If the thought of spending a Saturday night surrounded by leather waistcoasts, Metallica T-shirts and lots of hair rocks your boat, head to Brighton Rock.
If you arrive early you may think you are having a flashback to a particularly hairy school disco.
People sit round watching hardcore metalheads take the first turn on the dancefloor. Hair is swung and air guitar played to Led Zeppelin and AC/DC.
After a couple of Bon Jovi and Van Halen songs are blasted out, most people make a beeline for the floor.
The DJs cater for all age ranges and rock tastes, turning down the volume at appropriate moments to let people lift their arms in the air and sing along.
The monthly night was started by rock fan Chris Stevens in February last year. He was disappointed by the lack of rock events in the city so decided to start his own.
Chris, who runs a sales and marketing company in Surrey, said: "Brighton used to have a big rock scene. But after The Hungry Years closed there wasn't anywhere I felt catered for true rock fans. I wanted to do something big and get a huge crowd together.
"We cater for all tastes - from old-fashioned classic rock to grunge and every genre variation in between."
Brighton Rock is open 10pm to 2am. Entrance is £6 for members and £8 for non-members. The next event is November 2.
