The new crossings, traffic lights and road layout are obviously needed to serve the new Tesco store in Church Road, Hove.

This is a very busy thoroughfare and no doubt will become even busier.

The work has been carried out very quickly to keep up with the opening of the store.

However, I can cite another extremely busy thoroughfare - Eastern Road.

The zebra crossing outside the County Hospital has been a death trap for more than 40 years.

It cries out to be changed to a pelican crossing. This is an extremely busy crossing which must be used by hundreds of people every day who dice with death.

Big business speaks again.
