A nursery school assistant who burst into a family's home and attacked a man with a knife was jailed for seven years yesterday.
James Skelly, 18, and Anthony Stride, 22, forced their way into the Granger home in Brighton Road, Lancing, and slashed Noel Granger, 23.
Mr Granger's parents and brother were in the house when the raid happened in the early hours of December 30 last year.
A court heard Mr Granger had recovered from multiple injuries including a serious stab wound but had been left traumatised.
The men were sentenced at Chichester Crown Court yesterday after pleading guilty following a week of evidence from the victim and his family.
Skelly and Stride had been charged with attempted murder but pleaded guilty to alternative charges. Skelly pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and Stride to a lesser malicious wounding charge.
A judge sentenced Skelly to seven years in jail and Stride to two years.
Detective Inspector Nigel Brown, senior investigating officer in the case, said: "This has left the whole family traumatised by the attack and unable to come to terms with the violation of their home."
