Richard Allden refers to "the host of ramblers, bird watchers, cyclists and riders who frequent our lovely countryside".

As someone who participates in three of these activities, I have a keen interest in preserving our green spaces.

However, I fully support the Falmer stadium precisely because the proposed site is not downland.

I can assure Mr Allden there is nothing picturesque about the A27 or a university car park.

He calls on John Prescott to look at the site. Falmer's not too far from his abode in New Church Road so perhaps Mr Allden should take a look for himself.

He hass either not been there or has a very peculiar idea as to what constitutes an area of outstanding beauty.
