Jake Robinson has been named in Albion's squad to face Luton in the first round of the FA Youth Cup at Bognor tonight.
The 16-year-old striker became the youngest first team scorer in the Seagulls' history when he netted in the LDV Vans Trophy victory against Forest Green Rovers at Withdean on Monday.
But Albion youth manager Dean Wilkins is convinced the striker will have his feet on the ground for the drop in level.
Wilkins said: "Jake has been through ever such a lot and, although he might not fully appreciate the significance now, in ten years he will look back on creating history with pride.
"I called him into the office on Tuesday morning to see how he had been affected by what happened to him and to tell him he'll be going backwards and forwards between the youth and first team and he was fine.
"He has not let it all go to his head. Jake copes with the the mental side comfortably.
"We have players with lot of talent but there's always the question about whether they will cope. With Jake it is hardly a question.
"I told him to be himself, to carry on as he has been doing. I know he will."
Robinson resumed training with the youth team on Tuesday. Wilkins said: "Bob Booker kindly allowed him to join us."
Wilkins hopes the side can emulate the efforts of the Albion team which reached the fifth round and played Everton at Goodison three years ago.
Wilkins said: "That side produced the best run in the club's history and I want the current side to at least emulate that.
"We've got a growing reputation in the competition with close defeats against the likes of Aston Villa, Coventry and Wimbledon."
Albion will face a non-league tie at home should they make the second round. They would face either Dulwich Hamlet or Ashford Town.
Squad: Chris May, Steve May, Gry Elphick, Chris Breach, Sam Rents, Russell Martin, Matthew Piper, Ben Fillery, Dean Cox, Jake Robinson, Ben Watson, Adam Mountford, Lee Carey, Richard Martin, Dan Taylor, Joe Gatting.
